This intimate Toronto backyard wedding was so good for the soul. Everything about it was just perfectly reflective of the couple. After having to cancel their larger intimate celebration, E & J decided to go ahead and not wait to get married. They wanted to say I do on their original date. And include their favourite people. They really embraced the idea of the intimate backyard wedding. Their outfits, absolutely wedding appropriate, but with slightly casual touches. Their family and friends, buzzing around through all of the excitement of the days preparations.

They got ready in their home. Had their fist look in their back yard. It was relaxed, and lovely. We took a walk to some of their favourite spots in their neighbourhood. Just the two of them. Their street. The graffiti alley near their place they love exploring. The awesome train overpass in and around the Junction Triangle in Toronto. The rail path they love cycling. They wanted the photos to reflect their every day. The casual, comfortable, loved in routes, walks and sights.

After the couple’s session, we drove a bit east to the groom’s mom’s home. Their yard was such a sweet spot for an intimate Toronto backyard wedding ceremony. The late afternoon sun dappled the lush lawn. A neon sign added a bit of their personality to the wedding back drop. They said I do, with smiles and laughter. I love capturing all of the sweet glimpses of their guests. Parents holding hands, shedding a happy tear, so excited to celebrate with E & J. Introduced as a married couple, a kiss, the breaking of a glass. Small but such significant traditions.

They walked back to the house. Ready to dance and celebrate. Their guests joined in the party. They were a small group, but had so much energy and so much love for the couple. A neighbour and their kiddos peeked over the fence, wished the couple all the love. It was all of this, all of these small moments which made that day unforgettable for me. I hope E & J were able to inhale every moment of their wedding. I hope the photos we captured help keep those memories.
