Winter weddings hold a special kind of magic, and Danielle and Benoit’s winter wedding at Hockley Valley Resort was no exception. From the crisp air to the beautiful scenery, their day was a perfect blend of romance and fun.

Embracing the Beauty of Winter

Danielle and Benoit fully embraced the season’s charm. They didn’t shy away from the cold; instead, they celebrated it! Hockley Valley Resort provided the ideal backdrop, with its picturesque landscapes and cozy atmosphere. The couple’s excitement was contagious, and it set the tone for an unforgettable day.

A Stylish and Practical Approach to Winter Attire

Danielle’s wedding dress was both stunning and practical. She paired her gown with a chic faux-fur wrap that kept her warm during outdoor photos. Benoit looked dapper in his tailored suit. The entire wedding party followed suit, layering stylishly to brave the chill.

Outdoor Photos with a Winter Wonderland Vibe

As a photographer, winter weddings are a dream to capture. The snow acts as a natural reflector, creating soft and flattering light. Danielle and Benoit’s outdoor portraits were nothing short of magical. The couple laughed, cuddled, and even popped a couple bottles of bubbly. These candid moments showcased their love and joy.

Cozy Details and Warm Touches

Inside the resort, the decor was a warm contrast to the wintery outdoors. Soft candlelight, eucalyptus garlands, and rich, earthy tones created a cozy atmosphere. The couple incorporated personal touches, such as their ceremony arch, which they designed and built.

A Reception Full of Energy

The reception was anything but cold! The speeches were HILARIOUS! Guests warmed up on the dance floor, where the dj kept the energy high all night. Danielle and Benoit’s first dance was a highlight, surrounded by the love of their family and friends. As was the sock-dance, preformed by the bride’s brother. In Quebec and other French-speaking parts of Canada, the older, unmarried siblings of the bride and groom perform a dance at the reception while wearing ridiculous, brightly-coloured, knitted socks. Guests can show their approval of the dancing display by tossing money [or chocolate coins] at the siblings, which is then (generously) donated to the bride and groom.

Tips for Planning Your Own Winter Wedding

If you’re considering a winter wedding, take inspiration from Danielle and Benoit. Here are a few tips:

  • Dress for the season: Embrace warm layers and accessories that complement your style.
  • Leverage the scenery: Choose a venue with stunning winter landscapes and indoor options [the Loft at Hockley Valley is a great spot for getting ready and photos.]
  • Keep guests cozy: Offer warm drinks and blankets to keep everyone comfortable.
  • Plan for lighting: Winter days are shorter, so schedule photos to maximize daylight.
